Abundant Provision.
Even in this “bad” economy, how many of you feel like you have way too much stuff?
How much is want, and how much is need? In his book "Jesus Wants to Save Christians", Rob Bell reminds us of some very staggering truths:
One billion people in the world do not have access to clean water, while
the average American uses four hundred to six hundred liters of water a day.
Every seven seconds, somewhere in the world a child under age five dies of hunger, while
Americans throw away 14 percent of the food we purchase.
Nearly one billion people in the world live on less than one American dollar a day.
Another 2.5 billion people in the world live on less than two American dollars a day.
1.6 billion people in the world have no electricity.
Americans spend more annually on trash bags than nearly half of the world does on all goods.
Why has God so abundantly provided for you? Sometimes I have the tendency to completely miss the big picture – the spiritual picture. You see God has not only provided for me physically, but most importantly spiritually. I am constantly reminded of how easy it is to settle for God’s good, instead of waiting for God’s best, and how easy it is to jeopardize God’s real blessing by taking the easy way!
